Local history - latest items to come in this month.

First items on the list is this image where I know the original is in the Margate Charter Trustees collection. It is the paddle steamer Royal Sovereign approaching Margate Jetty . The photograph I know for sure was taken by George Hoare who was a Margate sea side photographer and in the bottom right hand corner is his very his distinctive hand writing. This is not a widely distributed image and I would rate it hard to come by.

Next item , a  H . Goodban & Sons invoice. Goodban & Sons were based in Garlinge and were builders, decorators and undertakers which does seem strange. Then the date does give it away a bit as it is a second world war invoice which does suggest both sides of the business must have been very active.

Finally third item, This one is a great research document  for Chatham House School researchers. Dated January 1932 it is the fees for the spring term of that year. This item came with a number of letters that all relate to the Sandwell family based in Margate. I have kept this document and have repatriated the rest of the items to the the Sandwell family including the Goodban invoice above.
