The origin of the sea coal at Margate Harbour.

Following on from my previous posting about the sea coal on our Thanet coastline, I have attached page 39 from Bygonne Margate " a millennium peep in the past" published by the Margate Historical Society in the year 2000. Which is further evidence of the origin of the sea coal on our coastline.
I have kept the text as it explains the problem coasters have entering the Harbour and the measures taken.

Ted parker junior was the pilot for everards ships bringing coal for the gas works they used to approach the sqare head at margate and put out a wire spring to come around into the berth on occassions the crew failed to get it ashore or it parted thus the ship ended up in the bay to be discharged in that position and then refloated allways i think without damage. I think there are open coal seams in sandwich bay which account for coal on the shore after a heavy gale
