Kings Arms Hotel 1908

This postcard postmarked October 17th 1908 of the Kings's Arms Hotel one of the oldest pubs in Margate and dates back to the 18th Century. The landlord in 1908 was Charles Knight and I am not sure if that is him in the picture.
In later years the Pub was renamed the Dogget, Coat and Badge

My mum and dad, Harry & Myrtle Faulkner had this place from early 60's to 70's. Ah yes Margate in the 60's was for me happy days when I was in the navy and used to come home on leave. I remember one occasion when I brought about 50 lads from HMS Kent home with me, mum and dad arranged a legal extension of hours, unlike their normal lock ins. Margate at the time had adopted HMS Kent and as we were based from Chatham it was a good draft for me.

Hi Brian, Went all the way to Margate this week to locate your Mum and Dad's old pub. Got very disappointed as after much searching counldn't find it. carole and I thought it used to be on the corner by the car park near Marine Terrace. We did ask around but nobody knew. Came across your blog by chance. I to remember having really happy times with you and your Mum and Dad back in the 60's, those were the days!!!! David & Carole Brown
