Winter Gardens 1950?

Most postcard photographs of the Winter Gardens , Margate were taken from the balconies of the building opposite. This postcard from my "saved from the bonfire collection" is no exception, taken around 1950 it shows a view of the Winter Gardens without the structural changes we have today. It is an excellent enlargement and copies well.

Always interesting to see this before a roof was built over what is now The Queen's Hall, but otherwise it looks surprisingly unchanged. Incidentally, there's an interesting booklet on the history of The Winter Gardens available from the box office for a couple of quid. It's a bit out of date (I think it was written in the early 90s) but worth having for all the old photographs throughout the years.

Peter, sounds like a nice little stocking filler.
