More photographic postcards of the Margate Harbour and Jetty area, including yesterdays that did not enlarge for some reason. The Margate Harbour monochrome postcard is from my "saved from the bonfire collection" and is a excellent example of the lighthouse prior to it's destruction in the 1953 storm. The wonderful thing about these postcards is they enlarge well and the details tell the history of the area more than words ever can. A fine example is the black and white postcard of Margate Harbour, in the bottom left hand corner there is the vehicle registration number KO6386. this lorry would transport coal unloaded from the coasters and deliver it to the Gas works in King Street. I suspect the man sitting down is the driver on his smoke break.
