This view of the Lido from the air is post war and I reckon post 1947. Taken on a grim day with nobody about, the Clifton Bath Chimney can been seen lining up with Ethelbert Road. It was situated in this position to avoid obscuring the sea view of the seafront buildings.
The picture below is a Raphael Tuck postcard taken on a fine day. The 300 bed Cliftonville Hotel can be seen on the present day site of the building that is Franks nightclub, formerly The Starlight Club, formerly the Bowlers Arms or formerly Francis Drake depending on your era. The Cliftonville Hotel is a excellent bench mark for dating early sixties postcards as it was demolished in 1962 after remaining closed in the 1950's following a fire.
In the far left of the postcard is the Queens Highcliff Hotel built 1890 and demolished in 1974 following a fire.
